Secondhand Fashion from the Street

South Street that is. Philadelphia is known for its eclectic styles. South Street is proof of that. Walk along that 5 to 10 block street and you will see some interesting people and fashion. There's everything from punk style to hip-hop. Cheap stores to top of the line ones. Some of my favorite thrift stores are located here where I always find one of a kind things.

This water color dress and yellow and black polka dotted blazer are both from Retrospect. Although Retrospect is a little more expensive than your average Good Will... you will not have a hard time finding something unique.
Bella Boutique is another option for people who want something vintage. Bella only sells designer brands like Chanel (personal favorite) and many others. If you can afford designers I suggest you go in. They have a great selection of bags, clothes, and shoes. The people who work there can be a little rude though.
Even though Philly Aids Thrift isn't on South Street (it's a few block down on Bainbridge) it is a place you should make an effort to visit. Not only do they have great secondhand items, their proceeds go to the fight against HIV/AIDS. The store is so much fun to browse through... especially their toy section. I found a beautiful Asian inspired dress a few days ago for only $3.75! It fits me perfectly too!
If you can't make it to these places you should check out your local Good Will. I have found many fun and interesting things throughout the years. You may have to search more but it is worth it because whatever you find will be affordable, unique and benefits a good cause.
